How To Deal With Rejection In Network Marketing

Cari Higham

How do you get around the scariest word in the dictionary?

You know that word...the one that makes you feel like you're not good enough.

It's the one word that every network marketer never wants to hear...."NO".

When I first started in network marketing, I talked to hundreds of people and do you know how many I recruited? ZERO.

No customers, no team members and no distributors.

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to quit.

If I could go back in time to when I first started, even though my journey has led me to where I am today, I would take the mindset I have now over that mindset.

Because rejection used to kill me. Chances are if you are reading this, rejection is killing you too.

I want to save you from that same path so I am going to share some advice with you that helped me change my mindset around rejection that saved my business.

START TALKING TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE

When it comes to network marketing, most companies teach their distributors to grow their business by telling you to make a list and tell everyone you know about the products because everyone needs the products.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

There might be people who could use your products, but don't want it. If someone doesn't see the value in what you are offering them, you can't convince them to buy it.

So find the people that are actually interested in what you have to offer.

Identify who that person is, think about their pains, their struggles, the problems that they are facing, their fears, their dreams, and their desires.

I want you to get really specific. So that when we go to social media we can identify where these people hang out. Find the groups they are in.

Get into those groups and start connecting with the right people.

PROVIDE VALUE BASED CONTENT

Now that you are connected with your perfect prospect, you want to build the know, like, and trust

Build your influence, and when it comes time to promote, its not a matter if you will have people to join you. It's how many, and how fast.

But what is value based content?

It does not matter what platform you use. Value based content can be in the form of a video, stories, a Tik Tok, or micro content.

It can be whatever would be of value to that perfect prospect.

What do they find of value? What is going to let them into your life? What is going to be entertaining to them? What is going to offer some education to what you are offering?

All these questions can provide value, and build the know, like, and trust with your prospects.

YOU WILL STILL HEAR THE WORD NO

No matter how good you are at talking to the right people and building influence, you are still going to get told "NO".

Even though we are talking to more high quality people, we need to remember that there are still going to be people that decide this isn't for them.

So how do we get around that scary word?

By understanding that when they say no, they are not telling you as a human being no. They are saying no to your products, your service, or your opportunity.

They are either saying no not right now, or no I don't have enough information, or just no this is not for me.

They are not saying it to you, they are saying it to whatever you are promoting.

IT'S A NUMBERS GAME

So, first you want to identify and connect with the right people for your business.

Secondly, you want to provide value based content for those people so that you are building some influence.

Lastly, understand that when someone says no, it is not a rejection of you as a person

I want you to take this information and be able to start implementing it right away inside your business so you can start getting more recruits, more customers, and enrolling more people into your team.

Even the most highly skilled closers, don't have a hundred percent close rates.

Understand this is a game of numbers. Talk to more of the right people so that it is easier for those numbers to go our way.

Are you sick of getting told no. When prospecting for your network marketing business, if this is you, you join the thousands of network marketers across the world that are struggling to build a business and to recruit team members into their team. Inside this video, I’m gonna be diving into three simple, easy, uh, steps, mindset shifts that are going to help you when it comes to dealing with rejection inside of network marketing. So if we’re meeting for the first time, my name is Carrie Heim and I am a beach boss influencer. And what we do inside beach boss is we teach network marketers, home based business entrepreneurs, how to leverage social media and automation to grow their bit businesses online. And I’m so excited about this topic because not very long ago, I was that network marketer that was getting told no over and over and over and over again.
In fact, my very first six months inside of this business, inside of this industry, I talked to hundreds of people. I made a list of friends and family. I started going through all of messaging, calling, uh, you know, uh, sending text messages, just talking to really anybody that could fog a mirror, um, hoping that they would take a look at my business and, and then join me. And I had hundreds and hundreds of conversations my very first six months. And I recruited zero people, no customers, no distributors. And I, I remember being really frustrated and I went to my upline and I was like, Mr. Upline, what is going on? How come I can’t get anybody to do this with me? You gave me some advice. And that advice led to what would turn into a three year journey. And I wanna save you that three years.

I want you to be able to take some nuggets from this video, from this episode. And I want you to be able to start implementing it right away inside your business so that you can start getting more recruits, getting more customers, enrolling more people into your team. And so that you will hear that word no, even less. So three steps tips that I wanna provide the very first one is start talking to the right people. So from when it comes to network marketing, how most companies teach their distributors to grow their business is they say, okay, like I just talked about, let’s make a list of all your fr friends, all your family, you know, everybody needs this, this, everybody needs our products. So if everybody can, you know, if EV, if let’s say you’re in skincare, if you have skin there, then those people need your product.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. And what we need to do is we need to backtrack a little, because if you want to be told no, a lot, talk to people that might need your product. It, but don’t want it. Because if somebody doesn’t see the value in whatever it is that you are offering them, whether it be a product, whether it be the business, I’m sorry to tell you, but you can’t convince somebody who doesn’t care about their skin to buy your skin care product. So that’s the very first tip is how about we start building a network. This is network marketing. Remember, let’s start building a network of people that are somewhat interested in what we have to offer. Okay? And the very first way that you’re able to do that is you need to identify who that perfect person is. So think about their pains, their struggles, problems that they’re dealing with, fears that they have their dreams, their desires.

And then I want you to even get really specific on demographics and those type of things. So that when we go to social media, we can start to identify some of these places that these people hang out, whether it be forums, groups, um, certain gurus that people follow. You can start making this list. You can start getting into connections and start connecting with the right people. The second thing that you’re gonna wanna do in step tip, number two is we wanna actually start providing some value based content. So for me, when I first got started in this industry, I had a lot of friends, right? I, I was a very social person that wasn’t, um, an issue for me. I had a lot of friends. However, I didn’t have any influence over those friends. As I had these conversations in the very beginning, I got a lot of people that said, sounds great for you, but let us know how it goes.

This isn’t for me, but good luck. Right? I didn’t have anybody that wanted to do it with me because I hadn’t built that type of influence over my network. So how do we start to do this? So if we’re connecting with the right people on social media, the next step to getting less nos is to start building some influence, start building some no like, and trust with these people so that when it comes time to promote, it’s not a matter of if you’re gonna have people join you. It’s a matter of how many and how fast, so examples of value based content. It doesn’t matter what social media platform you use. Uh, value based content can be in the form of video. It can be in the form of stories. It can be in the form of TikTok. It can be in the form of, uh, micro content.

It can be whatever would be of value to that perfect person that you identified in. Tip number one, okay. What do they find value? What is gonna let them into your life, into your lifestyle? What is gonna give you, give them some education around whatever it is that you’re promoting, and then what is going to be entertaining for them as well? I like to call it edutainment. People want to beta want to be educated and entertained. So if you can take, uh, a video, whether it be on YouTube or TikTok or Facebook or wherever it may be, and you can, you know, do a video that gives them that you’re going to start to build some influence with people. And these followers that you are collecting are gonna get to know like, and trust you even more. And that’s where tip number three comes in because no matter how good you are at a, you know, talking to the right people and building influence, you’re still gonna get told, no, this is a game of numbers.

It is a numbers game. And even though we might be talking to more high quality people because of the first two steps, we need to keep in mind that there are still gonna be people that decide this isn’t for them. So how do we get around that scary word? No, that, you know, makes that makes us feel like we’re not that, that we’re not good enough or that, um, you know, I don’t know how many times in those first six months I wanted to quit because of all of the nos I was getting. If I could take my mindset that I have now and go back in time to that when I very first started, I wish that I could, even though my journey has led me to where I am today, I would totally take the mindset that I have now, because rejection used to kill.

And I’m sure that if you’re watching this video and you’ve made it to this point, it’s probably killing you too and eating you up inside. But one thing you need to understand is that when people are telling you, no, they are not telling you yourself as a person, a human being, no they’re saying no to your product, your service, your opportunity, or whatever it is that you’re promot. They’re either saying, no, not now, no, I don’t have enough information or no, this really is not for me. They’re not saying no to you, right? They’re saying no to whatever it is that you are promoting. So you can always follow up with people that give you that permission to follow up with them at a later time, if someone tells you no. And you realize that there’s a gap in information, like there’s something that they’re, something’s not clicking.

You can give them more of that information. But if someone says, no, this isn’t for me, don’t follow up. I’m personally not a person. That’s gonna go and follow up with them because I wanna be having convers with highly qualified people that are excited about the opportunity of buying, whatever it is or joining me in my business. So those three tips, okay, first connect with and identify and connect with the right people for your network marketing business, for your network market product. The second is start providing value-based content for those people so that you are building some influence so that when it comes time to promote, it’s not a matter of if you have people join you, it’s a matter of how many and how fast and tip number three, understand that when someone says, no, it is not a rejection of you. It is not a reflection of you as a person, you and your character.

None of that, really, when you are talking to the right people, even the most highly skilled closers, the high, the, the people that are super good at like, uh, you know, attracting like the cream of the crop. Even they don’t have a hundred percent close rates, right? So understand that it is a numbers game. Let’s talk to more of the right people, so that it’s easier for those numbers to spin in our faith. So if you got value, uh, hopefully you got value. If you want to dive deeper into these three things that I talked about, definitely grab the link. That’s gonna be somewhere attached to this video.
