Are you making your network marketing pitch work hard enough for you?

If not, let’s give it a little makeover.

To clarify, we’re talking about the elusive “elevator pitch,” or how you would describe your network marketing opportunity to someone in the amount of time it takes to ride an elevator.

In today’s techy network marketing landscape, you could apply these same rules to a reel or TikTok video since they’re similar in length.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your network marketing pitch wherever you are pitching it:

1. Hook ‘em From the Start

If you don’t grab someone’s attention in the first few seconds of your pitch, you’ll have a hard time earning that attention back.

You need a solid, relatable way to make them instantly interested in what you have to say.

A surprising fact, relatable question, or little-known trivia about your products could work well for a strong hook.

2. Exude Authenticity

We get enough “fake” through filters and Photoshop.

No one wants a washed-up version of your products or opportunity.

They want the real, raw truth.

So give it to them.

You’ll be more trustworthy to them if you are honest. If you just gave them a sanitized review of the products, they’ll likely be a little skeptical of your motive.

But when you talk about your real experiences with the product and company and about how each has changed your life for the better, they’ll know you’re telling the truth.

3. Share a Story

People connect with stories.

If you share your personal journey or a specific time when these products helped you (authentically, of course), you’ll help them see the value of what you’re offering.

Your story may be relatable if they are experiencing similar struggles.

And it’s definitely more relatable than sitting through a lecture on statistics or pros and cons of the different product lines.

Being vulnerable is one of the most valuable network marketing techniques you can use.

4. Preempt Any Objections

If you’re selling a chance to join your team, your prospects are going to come into the conversation with a little skepticism.

Instead of waiting for them to bring up their concerns, beat them to the punch. Here are some examples:

  • “You might be worried that joining my team is expensive. We are actually running a special right now where you can join for just $X!”
  • “I know you’re a busy mom. This is something you can do during naptime and while waiting in the carpool pickup line.”
  • “You could have concerns about meeting certain minimum sales each month. In our company, though, we don’t have any.”
  • “Before you get worried about holding onto a lot of inventory, let me calm your nerves: everything is online, and shipping goes directly to your customers.”

If you bring it up before they can, they can often feel like you’ve got their best interests at heart.

5. Make the Conversation Two-Sided

People like it when you listen to them.

So, take time to hear what they have to say during your pitch.

Find out what their pain points are.

Figure out what the extra income could mean for their life and goals.

Determine the ways that your opportunity and products can help them.

Their thoughts and concerns can help direct the pitch to become personalized to them.

If you’re chatting in person, make it a conversation by asking questions and genuinely listening to the answers.

Online, ask a direct question for followers to answer in the comments.

Then, engage with them.

6. Give a Call-to-Action

If you have a prospect interested in what you have to offer, the worst thing you could do is leave them hanging.

Have a clear call-to-action ready in your pitch so you can follow up later.

Here are some examples of calls-to-action you might have:

  • “If this seems like something you are interested in, let’s chat more about it over lunch on Thursday. My treat.”
  • “If you’re interested in learning more, I can answer any other questions you have. When are you free?”
  • “This sounds like it’s right up your alley. Let’s set up a time so we can discuss your goals some more so we can make a plan to help you reach them.”
  • “If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, let me know in the comments.”

Never let a prospect slip through the cracks because you don’t have a call to action for them.

7. Follow Up

After your pitch interaction, don’t forget the power of following up.

But be strategic about it.

Don’t just hound them with, “So? When are you going to join?”

Send them some resources or other information about what you shared with them.

By following up this way, you take a 45-second elevator pitch and turn it into an ongoing conversation, where they can really take in all that your business has to offer.

In Conclusion

Plot out your perfect pitch.

Practice it in the mirror, with a friend, or with someone on your team.

A solid network marketing script is a valuable tool.

Whether you find yourself sharing your pitch online or in a literal elevator with a prospect, really make those seconds together count.
