You signed up for an MLM to make money, right?
So, how does spending more money make any sense?
It may seem backward, but trust us, it plays a big part in how to be successful in an MLM.
Let’s take a look at why you should be on board with spending a little money to make money.
Training for You
If this is your first MLM rodeo, you want to prepare yourself for what you’re about to start.
So much of this world is learning strategies and techniques that can get you where you want to be.
You can get there in two ways:
- Trial and error
- Investing in the knowledge of someone who’s been there and done that
There’s nothing wrong with trial and error as long as you aren’t in a hurry to start making more money.
Trial and error will be a difficult road. We know. We’ve been there.
But if you invest in training from coaches who know their stuff and have done the heavy lifting for you, you will jump lightyears ahead in your MLM journey.
Instead of taking time to learn the basics and reinventing the wheel, you can dive right into the proven MLM strategies.
A coach, mentor, or MLM training course can pay you back much more than the cost (if you choose a trusted one and follow the techniques they teach you, of course).
Investing in your own training is the jumpstart your business needs to get off the ground.
Training for Your Team
It makes sense that you would want to learn all you can to be successful in your MLM.
But what about taking the time (and money) to train your downline? Is that worth it?
Remember: their success is your success.
Which also means their failure is yours.
When they are successful, you will benefit. When they quit, your team suffers.
So, it only makes sense to set them up for success by investing in them.
If they can learn through training how to become better leaders themselves, you can count on your team to continue to grow.
Consider investing in the following training topics for your team:
- Time Management
- Prospecting
- Lead Generation
- Communication Skills
- Social Media Management
- Business Communication
In addition to providing access to training for your team, you can offer incentives to top performers.
Who doesn’t love a little extra nudge in the right direction?
It’s amazing how much of a motivator that incentives and recognition can be.
Team Building for Your Downline
Once you establish your team and it is large enough, you may want to create camaraderie among its members.
Consider a way for your team to connect together, sharing ideas and encouraging each other.
Set up a video call with everyone on your team.
You might live close enough to get together in person on a regular basis.
If you aren’t close, you might be able to arrange a retreat for your team, where you can collaborate and motivate each other. You could also arrange for special training to take place during the retreat.
Even just acknowledgment from you can go a long way for your team.
Sending them a card or small gift can be a meaningful way to show them you see them and are there for them. These little investments can pay big dividends when your team members feel seen and validated.
Invest in Your Customers
It’s easier to retain a customer than it is to go out and find a new one.
Once you have a customer in your pocket, try to keep them there.
Create a community of customers who trust you and will keep coming back.
This may include throwing an occasional discount their way to satisfy their desire for a deal.
Yes, you might lose a little of your commission from this.
But they probably wouldn’t have made a purchase without that discount, so your smaller commission is better than none at all.
You don’t have to give away all of your commission, either.
If you earn 25% of a sale, offer your customers 10% off.
Or cover the shipping for someone who reaches a certain dollar amount in their order.
Get creative.
You’re Worth It
Don’t let naysayers stop you from reaching your potential.
You and your dreams are worth the investment.
Whether you invest in your own training, training for your downline, team building, your customer base, or all of the above, if you pair your investment with hard work, there’s no telling how far you’ll go.
