Resolutions.
They don’t just need to be the typical “go to the gym” goals that everyone sets (then gives up on before February even starts).
You can set some New Year’s resolutions for building your network marketing business.
We have some ideas to help you get started, but before we do, let’s have a little chat about what makes a good resolution.
How to Make a Resolution
A quality resolution will meet certain criteria.
If you want to be more fit, you might make a resolution like this:
“I will go to the gym.”
But that isn’t a great resolution.
You want something measurable, realistic, and specific.
“I will go to the gym for one hour three times a week, and I’ll rotate working out my legs, arms, and core.”
Notice the difference?
That resolution is going to be much more effective.
You also want to be realistic in your goal.
No, you won’t look like a bodybuilder in five days.
You do want your goal to stretch you past your comfort zone, but start by reaching arm's width out of it instead of a mile away.
Network Marketing Goal Examples
If you’re having a hard time thinking of ideas for your own goals, here are some places to start.
Notice that a lot of them aren’t specific and measurable (like your goals should be).
You’ll need to personalize it to your situation.
Have Specific Social Media Activity
A lot of people might make resolutions to decrease the time they spend on social media.
But your goal might be the opposite.
Whether you need to find more time to spend on social media or just make the time you’re already spending there more productive, you can set a goal to back it up.
Make a goal to be more consistent with your posting, commenting, engaging, replying, liking, and following up.
Regularly engaging on social media will help drum up your traffic, boost you in the algorithm, and build momentum.
Set aside a certain amount of time you’ll dedicate daily to your social media network marketing.
Just don’t get distracted when you open Instagram!
Build Relationships with Your Team Members
If you’ve been feeling out of touch with your team, it might be time to work on that.
Send your downline a little something to let them know you’re thinking about them, even if it’s just a message of encouragement.
Host a meeting where everyone can share some of their goals for the year.
Create a fun winter challenge for your team to help incentivize them to get more recruits or sell extra products.
Recruit More
The goal “recruit more” doesn’t work on its own, but you can personalize it to fit where you are right now.
If you’re at the start of your journey, you might set a goal to sign a new recruit each month.
If you’re a seasoned network marketer, you might challenge yourself to a new recruit each week.
Wherever you are, set a realistic goal for your own business, then follow through.
Make a plan on how you are going to focus on finding prospects.
Prioritize Your Health
Raise your hand if you’ve let network marketing become a pretty consuming part of your life.
While dedicating yourself to this newfound passion is commendable, don’t let it stand in the way of taking care of yourself.
If you’ve put your own wellness on the back burner, you might want to set a goal for more self-care.
Whether it’s going to bed at a good time, exercising, eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables, or yoga, choose something that can help you be your healthiest self.
Because a healthy you is a more productive you.
Set a Strategizing Schedule
Let’s face it.
Not all methods of network marketing work for everyone.
So you need to be able to recognize what is and isn’t working and be willing to switch up your tactics if they aren’t providing results.
You might want to consider making a New Year’s resolution to review your personal network marketing strategy quarterly throughout the year.
That gives you time to try something new and decide if it’s worth your time to continue doing it.
Hold Yourself Accountable
Don’t be like the people who cancel their gym memberships before Valentine’s Day.
You’ve set a goal that is attainable. It’s measurable, realistic, and specific.
And it’s only going to help you grow.
If you have the self-discipline to follow through with that, then go and get to work.
If you’re worried you might back out, find an accountability partner. Help encourage them in their New Year’s resolution, and ask that they do the same for you.
Who knows? Maybe they’ll be your first recruit of the new year.
