“AI is great – for research, for ideas – but don’t you dare copy and paste what it gives you,” he laughs. “People can smell fake a mile away.”

“She said, ‘What do you think of this?’ and I said, ‘Doesn’t matter what I think, it matters what your audience thinks.’ Then I asked if she wrote it. She said, ‘No, ChatGPT did.’ And I said, ‘Then don’t post it.’”
For John, the real secret to success isn’t in automation, it’s in connection.
“You can’t automate mentorship. You can’t automate relationships,” he says. “If you’re not talking to people, not checking in, not building trust – you’re missing it.”
He reminds us that this business is about being human first, marketer second.
“Stop spending three hours on a post nobody reads. Spend that time actually talking to people.”
It’s simple, but powerful.
“When people feel seen and supported, they’ll follow you. That’s what makes the difference – not fancy funnels or perfect captions. Be a real person. Build real relationships. That’s what lasts.”
