In this training, I'm going to be talking about
five mistakes most network marketers make that keep them stuck
Now, I'm not going to be judging anyone here. I've made these mistakes myself! but I've learned, and I want to tell you what to avoid and what to do instead. Are you excited? Let's get started.
1. Thinking everyone is your prospect
This is probably the biggest mistake we see in a lot of new network marketers or old-school network marketers. Mistake number one is thinking that everyone is your prospect.
I was taught it as the number one rule in traditional network marketing - don't prejudge people, share your products and your opportunity with everyone. You never know.
You've probably been there. You've probably been told this advice and you probably followed it.
How did it go for you?
I'm not going to argue that it doesn't work. It totally does work, but what kind of price do you have to pay for this concept?
If you follow it your data says that in order for you to get one yes, you have to get 99 nos.
It's statistics and it's true.
The problem with that is there are many people who have mastered that skillset and they can convert every - let's say - fifth prospect, but it took them years to master that skill set. And not everyone can do that.
An average network marketer, an average person cannot do that.
This leads to tons and tons of rejection!
Which leads to another problem- that is the majority of people will quit on NO number three. Nobody ever gets to no number 99 or a hundred. Nobody ever gets to the yes.
That's why a lot of people quit without seeing any results, his process is very painful and takes a lot of effort. You need to have thick skin and you need to have great skills. Most people don't have it. It's not unlearnable, it's totally learnable, but it takes a long time.
Learn how to identify who your perfect prospects are, where they hang out, and how to attract them to you. So you don't even have to chase anyone at all.
2.Focusing on the end result
A lot of us - and I'm guilty as well, when we become so involved in this industry, we focus on the end result and the end result is sales in your recruits.
That's what we want.
A lot of people chasing around with dollar signs, with that hidden agenda. When they connect with people, when they communicate with people, all they want is to sell and it's that commission motive that can be smelled a mile away and we humans can feel it on a subconscious level.
So instead of focusing on the end result - the sale (the new recruits), you need to be focusing on how to master the skills that will get you that result.
So essentially, you have to divorce the results and marry the process.
So instead of thinking how can I make more money, how can I get more sales, how can I recruit more people.
You need to be thinking how can I be posting better content, how can I be making better, more engaging live videos, how can I communicate better with people on a human level.
That's the kind of skill sets you need to be working on.
So not the end result, and the result will absolutely come. It's like a side effect.
It's a very powerful side effect of focusing on the skills.
3. Your product is not your attractor factor - YOU ARE.
If you want to attract people, you need to know that your products, your opportunity, and your company are not your attractor factors.
This is a huge one for many people because they don't understand why - how can I sell my products?
If I don't talk about my products, how can I recruit people?
If I don't tell them what company it is and what it does?
So what is your attractor factor?
If you think that your company or your products is what attracts people to you, then what makes you different from hundreds of thousands of distributors who are selling the exact same thing?
This is not your attractor factor.
Your real attractor factor is YOU and how you can help people.
People want to know:
What is your story?
What is your journey?
What struggles have you been through along the way?
What makes you more attractive than just sharing how amazing your products are?
Your products and your company become just a bonus.
Therefore, your main attractor factor is you.
You need to figure out how to promote yourself as a people helper rather than a salesperson. So learn how to promote yourself and your products and your company will become a bonus, an amazing bonus for those people who want to get more information from you.
4. DO NOT ignore the power of a passive follow up.
How many of you love follow up?
How many of you have heard the magic is in full follow up, right?
And we all kind of hate it because we feel like we're bugging people. They already told us no, they’re not interested. Not right now. Can't afford it. It's not what I thought it was, it’s a subscription. No, no, no, no, no. And we leave people alone thinking that we've done our follow up, or I don't wanna follow up that way. I don't want to be bugging people and we kind of stop.
There is another magic tool that is actually more powerful than active follow up.
I call it passive follow up.
So if you show up in their newsfeed with a question or with a post, they'll be like, oh my gosh, I remember a message from that girl. And I didn't answer it. I need to go and answer it or I need to reply to it, or I need to watch it. You come back into their focus.
You become visible and you remind those people of yourself.
That's the passive follow up.
Three ways you can passively follow up with people without feeling like you’re bugging them:
1. You can tag them in the valuable information that you have provided to someone else.
2. You can message them about your video or about your post or about your story.
3. Comment on their stuff.
Let's say, if you did a video on how to make drinks that help you to lose weight. If you made some valuable video and you know that this person has expressed their dissatisfaction with not being able to lose weight or have expressed their desire to, then they need help with losing weight.
They might have said no, I can't buy it right now.
You're not trying to sell anymore, you're just tagging them and saying, Hey, Susie, I just did a video on how to blank without blank. I thought it might be helpful to you.
You're providing value.
You're showing up on their post. You're giving them love. You're engaging with them.
You remind them of yourself and your relationship with the person and that you still care about them.
This is a very powerful concept. Some marketers don't even know about passive follow up. They only think about how can I make a sale, how I can get those people to buy.
So tag those people in your valuable content that they want to see, and you will see what it will do for you.
So passive follow up is a thing. It's a very powerful tool and it's ignored.
5. Thinking its a sprint, It's a marathon.
A lot of network marketers think that it's a sprint.
That you join the industry, you take the products, and they're amazing. You tell to all your friends and family about it. They're going to buy it. They're going to join your team. And you’re going to climb to the top really fast. Or you find that rockstar who’s going to blow it up for you and boom.
I call this microwave mentality.
If you want real success, you need to know that it's not a sprint. It's a marathon.
Yeah, some people make one post and they make a hundred sales. But guess what? It's not the rule. It's the exception to the rule. It's not duplicable for the majority of people.
It takes months and years to master those skill sets, master the skill of growing networks and connecting with those networks.
It takes time. It's going to take time to get to the top, but it's absolutely worth it.
So these are my five mistakes. Let's go over it very quickly:
- First, not everyone is your prospect.
- Second, instead of focusing on the end result, you should be focusing on the process to get there.
- Number three is that your product is not your attractor factor - You are.
- Number four, do not ignore the power of a passive follow up.
- Number five, get rid of the microwave mentality. It's a marathon. It's a long journey, not only of mastering the skill set, but also personal growth.
Comment below and let me know which one is your favorite, which one you had no clue about and which one grabbed your attention and you think you need to work on that part.
I hope you got value and I will see you next time.
