Is Offline or Online Network Marketing Right for You?

    Table of Contents

Gone are the days of in-person, face-to-face network marketing.

    Or are they?

Let’s take a look at what network marketing looks like both online and offline.

    Online Network Marketing

The internet is the logical place to start your network marketing path.

Who among us doesn’t have 24/7 access to the World Wide Web?

The opportunities seem to be endless when it comes to how to grow your network marketing business online. Here are some of the ways to use the internet to your advantage:

Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, Oh My!

Phones are overflowing with social media. They are the perfect way to naturally work your network marketing business into your social networks.

The beauty of these accounts is you can reach well beyond your own 483 friends.

A viral post can pull new viewers to your page.

Consistently providing value to your viewers can teach the algorithm to put you in front of like-minded people who may want to join your team.

Social media allows you to create shareable content that can help you spread your message around.

You aren’t limited to how far and wide you can reach when it comes to social media.

Get creative and create some content!

    You’ve Got Mail

Creating an email list of potential customers and having the key to land right in their inbox is huge.

You can target people you already know have expressed interest in what you have to offer.

These people are very likely to jump on any specials you have because you don’t have to sell them on the product. They already love it, or they wouldn’t have joined your email list.

This email list is also a great place to target potential recruits.

They may have joined the list as customers, but passionate customers make valuable recruits.

    Online Sales

Between grocery deliveries and online ordering, it seems that shopping in person has taken quite a dive in popularity.

Online shopping comes with its own perks:

    • You can see the total of your cart as you are crafting it
    • You can take your time researching the products that best fit your needs
    • You can make sure you’re getting the best deal
    • You can do it on your own schedule

With all your socials and emails directing your customers to the link where they can buy from you, you are practically spoon-feeding a sale to your audience.

    Reaching Far and Wide

Your reach has a much larger potential when you take your network marketing online.

Unless you have an unlimited budget to visit every city and personally meet up with each person there, you won’t be able to reach as many people as you can online.

    Offline Network Marketing

So, should we just ignore offline marketing completely since online marketing has so many benefits?

    Not necessarily!

Offline network marketing has a few unique advantages that online doesn’t quite capture. Let’s look at them:

    Genuine Connections

Yes, you can set up individual video calls online.

But are they really as effective or persuasive as talking to a real person face-to-face?

When you meet with someone in person, you can catch body language cues that you may have missed through a screen. While you’re talking about your business with them, you can tailor your message to what they need from you.

There’s no replacing the warmth and positive vibes that an in-person chat can produce.

    Product Handling

Yes, online shopping offers many conveniences to busy customers.

But sometimes, when you handle a product, it sells itself.

A picture and online description might not do justice to the quality of the product.

If you use other senses when you use your product, such as smell or taste, you cannot replicate that experience online.

Allowing your customers to see what they are buying can do wonders for sales.

    Under Pressure

You don’t want to make your customers uncomfortable, but there is a natural feeling that comes up when someone is buying something offline. They feel that if they don’t buy it now, they will miss the chance.

Online it seems that everything will always be available.

Offline, customers get a little more FOMO, which can lead to more sales.

    The Best of Both Worlds

Luckily for you, you don’t have to choose between offline and online network marketing.

They each have their pros, so take advantage of both.

Create a strong online presence. Set up all the socials.

Take advantage of offline opportunities. You can be a vendor at your local farmer’s market or set up a pop-up event in your front yard.

Be open to trying new things, and you might be surprised at where you can find success.

    Don’t Mess With the Agencies!

There’s one agency you absolutely don’t want to mess with—and trust us, if you do, you’re putting your business and even your entire company at risk.

The FDA (that’s the Food and Drug Administration, for anyone new here) doesn’t play around when it comes to claims about health products.

They regulate the safety and efficiency of food, drugs, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.

For network marketers, this means that any claims you make about your health-related products must align with their standards.

This includes claims that a product can diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent diseases.

And here’s the kicker: these claims need to be backed by real evidence and approved by the FDA.

Unfortunately, violations happen all the time—think false health claims or misleading advertising.

For instance, a company might suggest their supplement cures a disease without evidence.

Even exaggerated testimonials can trigger action from the FDA.

To put it into perspective, we’ve seen entire companies shut down for making wild claims.

One friend’s company spiraled out of control after people started claiming their product “cured” autism.

While the product might have helped with some symptoms, those claims weren’t backed by science.

Before long, the FDA, FTC, and every other agency you can think of showed up to shut things down.

Lesson learned: don’t mess with these agencies.

If your product is a supplement, remember—it’s not FDA-approved, and making claims that suggest otherwise is a risky business.

Why Staying Educated on Compliance is Non-Negotiable

As a network marketer, you’re essentially buying a piece of your company.

It’s your job to sell products legally and ethically.

If you’re unsure about what you can and can’t say, there’s no excuse—just hop on the FDA’s website and educate yourself!

Accurate claims aren’t just a legal requirement; they’re your golden ticket to building trust with your audience.

This includes avoiding exaggerations and making sure your marketing materials align with the FDA’s standards.

Most companies provide training on compliance.

At conventions, you’ll likely find at least one session about staying compliant—it’s that important!

Brandy says it best: “Protect the golden goose.”

It only takes one or two people making reckless claims to put a target on the back of your company.

That’s why it’s crucial to stay informed, educate your team, and keep your claims legit.

Avoiding Common Pitfalls and Staying Ahead of the Game

Now, let’s talk about avoiding those pesky pitfalls that could trip you up.

Start by reviewing all marketing materials before they go out.

Double-check that every claim is backed by credible evidence.

When it comes to testimonials, it’s better to “vanilla them down” (as Brandy calls it).

That means toning down any bold claims like “it cured XYZ.”

For instance, instead of saying, “This product cured my migraines,” focus on saying something like, “This product has helped me manage my migraines better.”

Staying informed about regulatory updates is non-negotiable.

The rules can change, and you need to keep up.

And if you notice someone in your network making misleading claims, it’s your responsibility to address it.

If they don’t stop, report them to your company.

It’s about protecting not just the company, but the livelihoods of everyone involved.

    Finally, don’t dismiss customer complaints.

Misleading claims can lead to legal trouble or dissatisfied customers.

Both can hurt your reputation—and your business.

Trust and Transparency: The Keys to Long-Term Success

Building trust and credibility starts with being honest about what your products can and can’t do.

Think of it this way: if someone says, “This product cured my illness,” by the time the story spreads, it becomes, “This product cures everything!”

That’s how rumors spiral, and that’s what gets companies into trouble.

Instead, focus on personal, truthful experiences: “This worked well for me; it might be worth a try for you.”

Never promise unrealistic results like, “You’ll lose 12 pounds in a week without trying!”

    Honesty goes a long way.

When customers trust your claims, they’re more likely to buy from you again and become advocates for your brand.

Plus, compliance isn’t just about avoiding legal trouble—it’s about securing the long-term success of your business.

And remember, once your integrity is damaged, it’s tough to rebuild.

If you’re caught lying to get a sale, people will stop trusting you—and trust is everything in this business.

So, here’s the golden rule: be transparent.

Use your company’s official website for accurate information, create educational content to help customers understand the science behind your products, and foster a culture of compliance within your team.

    Always protect the golden goose.

Because if your company gets shut down, you’re not just hurting yourself—you’re affecting thousands of people who rely on it for their livelihoods.

Ready to take your recruiting game to the next level?

If you’ve ever wondered how to build a thriving team without feeling spammy or overwhelmed, you’re in the right place.

We’re breaking down a simple, actionable plan to recruit 10 people in just 10 days using the power of social media.

Whether you’re a seasoned network marketer or just getting started, this step-by-step guide will show you how to build relationships, create curiosity, and inspire people to join your team—all while staying authentic and having fun.

Set the Stage for Your Success

Let’s start with the foundation, shall we?

If you’re aiming to recruit 10 people in the next 10 days, preparation is key!

First, get super clear on who you’re looking for.

Not everyone is your ideal recruit, and that’s okay.

You want motivated, ambitious individuals who are eager to grow a business.

Some people may just want the product, and that’s great too—customers are an important part of the process!

Next, paint a detailed picture of your ideal recruit.

What are their interests, goals, and challenges?

What language do they use when they talk about their dreams or struggles?

If you try to talk to everyone, you’ll end up connecting with no one.

Now, let’s talk about your social media profiles.

    Are they polished and professional?

People need to see your face to know, like, and trust you. (Sorry, but your adorable dog doesn’t count here!)

Update your profile picture to show off that smile and make sure your bio clearly communicates who you are, what you do, and why someone would want to join you.

Finally, create a content strategy that showcases your success, highlights the value you provide, and sprinkles in testimonials or success stories.

Share your hobbies, favorite quotes, and a bit of humor. Keep it real.

    Consistency is non-negotiable here.

If you know it takes 100 conversations to get one recruit, do the math and commit to showing up every day.

Remember, what you do today will pay off tomorrow—like compound interest in your business.

Your 10-Day Plan to Rock Recruiting

Now that you’ve set the stage, let’s dive into the plan.

For the first three days, focus on preparation and building momentum.

This means creating engaging content that speaks directly to your ideal recruit.

Share success stories, behind-the-scenes peeks, and build curiosity about this exciting new journey you’re on.

This content isn’t about “selling”—it’s about sparking interest and getting conversations started.

Plan to host an event to showcase your opportunity.

It could be a webinar, a sneak peek, or even a casual coffee meetup.

This is where your content will guide people to attend, so make it fun and easy to say “yes!”

Days four through six are all about relationship building.

Forget spammy messages to friends and family. Instead, focus on genuine, personalized outreach.

Who in your network would feel left out if you didn’t tell them about your new venture? Start there.

Reach out with a simple, friendly message and show genuine interest in their lives.

Engage authentically on social media by commenting on other people’s posts (hello, 140 characters!).

Build connections by interacting with those who engage with your content.

It’s not about pushing an agenda—it’s about being a real human and nurturing relationships.

By the end of day six, you’ll have laid a solid foundation of curiosity, relationships, and engagement.

Now you’re ready to move into the next phase: showing up and sealing the deal.

Show Up and Seal the Deal

Days seven through nine are game time!

It’s time to host that event you’ve been building toward.

Whether it’s a Zoom webinar, an in-person meetup, or a live Q&A, the goal is the same: to share your opportunity in a way that paints a clear and compelling vision.

When sharing, don’t overwhelm people with information.

Instead, focus on what this business has done for you and what it could do for them.

Paint a picture of possibility for their lives—the freedom, growth, and transformation that’s waiting for them.

Once the event wraps up, the next three days (days eight, nine, and ten) are all about follow-ups.

This is where the magic happens.

Reach out to attendees and answer their questions.

Personalize your messages to show you genuinely care about their journey.

A little effort here goes a long way in building trust and helping them take that next step.

And remember, it doesn’t end with just recruiting your 10. Help each new recruit follow this same plan to find their own 10.

Duplication is the secret sauce that builds momentum and scales your business like wildfire.

Keep It Real on Social Media

Social media is your stage, and authenticity is your spotlight.

If you’re not being real, people can sense it a mile away.

Share your wins, but also share your struggles.

Vulnerability connects on a deep level and shows people you’re human too.

Be consistent with your posts. Share a variety of content—educational, entertaining, and inspiring.

Talk about your business, yes, but also share bits of your life.

Post about that amazing movie you watched, a book that moved you, or even a meaningful walk with a friend.

These relatable moments build trust and make you more approachable.

Engage daily with your audience by responding to comments and messages.

Interact with their content too—remember those 140-character comments we talked about?

They boost your visibility and help you stay top-of-mind.

Most importantly, make sure your content provides value.

Whether it’s a quick tip, a motivational story, or a behind-the-scenes peek, think about how your post will brighten someone’s day or help them solve a problem.

And don’t forget to be upfront about your business!

Curiosity is key, but people also need to know what you’re offering. Balance promotion with authenticity, and you’ll be well on your way to hitting your recruiting goals.

  • 5 Reasons to Join an MLM Mastermind Group

5 Reasons to Join an MLM Mastermind Group

    Table of Contents

Whether you’re in the thick of running your network marketing business or just starting out, you might realize that, although the premise of network marketing is networking with people, it can be a pretty lonely gig.

MLM masterminds might offer solutions to problems you didn’t even realize you had.

Should you join an MLM mastermind group? Would it be helpful? Where can you find one? Keep reading to find out if an MLM mastermind group would help you and your business.

    Join an MLM Mastermind Group

What is an MLM Mastermind Group?

A mastermind group is a focus group of individuals who have the same goals.

MLM masterminds collaborate and share insights.

They can be a large online community of people or a more intimate group of a few individuals who already know each other.

Either way, the goal remains the same: be helpful to each other on your MLM journeys.

The Benefits of an MLM Mastermind

Surrounding yourself with like-minded network marketers has a lot of benefits for you. Here are the top five:

    1. Problem-Solving

When you’re up against something tricky in your business, it can be hard to see the big picture.

If you are part of a mastermind, your fellow group members may have creative solutions to your problems that you can’t see because you’re too close to the situation.

Struggling with creating Instagram reels? Ask for some guidance.

Not sure how to encourage a prospect to become your newest recruit? Ask for help with wording.

Are you plateauing in sales? Your group has been there and can help you through it.

    2. Accountability

You can set a goal of five new recruits by the end of the year.

You might write out your goal on neon pink sticky notes that you put on your mirror and by your computer monitor.

And you might feel like quitting when it’s hard. You might even toss the sticky notes in the garbage without batting an eye. No one needs to know.

But when you set a goal and voice it to an accountability partner, it’s different.

If you know someone is waiting to hear about the five recruits you rounded up, it’s harder to ignore than the sticky notes you can toss in the trash.

Unlike a sticky note, an accountability partner from your mastermind group can give you a call and help you think of where to find more leads when your current ones dry up.

By having an accountability partner, you are more likely to follow through on your goal.

    3. Resource Sharing

There are a lot of resources out there.

You couldn’t test them all out to find your favorites if you tried.

Instead, if you’re part of a mastermind, you can share with each other which resources you find particularly beneficial.

“Did you see what the Beach Boss Influencers shared about live videos? It was a game changer!”

“Canva is my new best friend.”

“I don’t know how I survived without Metricool!”

You can learn about new products or systems without needing to guinea pig each of them.

    4. Friendship and Networking

As you spend time together, there’s a good chance you’ll start to look forward to your meetings and chats.

You’ll celebrate each other’s successes. You’ll be there to encourage each other and laugh together.

    You’ll become friends.

In addition to the camaraderie you’ll feel together, you’ll also expand your network as you build these relationships.

    5. Confidence-Building

When you see others following similar paths, and you watch them succeed, you start to realize that you can do this, too.

Knowing that you’re capable of doing something is half the battle.

Surrounding yourself with people who cheer you on can also do a number on your self-esteem and confidence.

    Bonus Benefit: Commiseration

Network marketing isn’t all fun and games all the time.

It can be downright hard sometimes.

When your most promising lead falls through, it’s nice to have some people to share your disappointment with who understand what you’re feeling.

Your mom, sister, life partner, or cat probably won’t be able to provide sufficient empathy for the moment.

Instead, lean into the other network marketers in your mastermind group. They will get it.

    How Can I Find One?

If you are interested in being in an MLM mastermind group, you can either find one or start one.

To start one, you could speak with your upline. They might be a good fit because they have a strong vested interest in your success.

You can also reach out to friends who are part of a different MLM. The cross-company collaborations could help both of you brainstorm fresh ideas.

Instead of starting one, you can also join one. We have a great group of individuals who are crushing it in their businesses in our private MLM mastermind group. They collaborate with each other, and we share additional information that can be helpful to your business.

A Network Marketer’s Guide to Interactive Content

    Table of Contents

    Be honest.

Do you think you’d be more likely to click on an interactive social media post than a static one?

More people tend to be drawn to more playful and collaborative content than just informative.

Should you throw some interactive content into your social media accounts?

Network Marketers Guide to Interactive Content
    (Anna Shvets/pexels)

    Is it worth it?

What types of interactive content are there?

    Which one would be best?

We will answer all these questions and more below as we dissect interactive content for your network marketing business.

    Types of Interactive Content

There are quite a few different types of interactive content.

Let’s break them down to see when each would be ideal.

    Quizzes on Facts

You can make a playful quiz to let your audience find out how much they know about a certain topic.

If you sell make-up, you could craft a quiz on the history of make-up. (What was the first mass-produced mascara called? Maybelline Cake Mascara.)

You could even shout out anyone who answers everything correctly or dive deeper into some of the fun facts you learned about while putting the quiz together.

    Quizzes for Fun

Create a personality quiz that links them to a certain product.

Come up with questions that align personality traits with some of your products.

Who would turn down a chance to find out “Which type of Tupperware are you?”

And who isn’t dying to determine “Which essential oil matches your personality?”

    Polls

Polls help you see what the majority of your audience thinks or feels on a topic.

You can create two types of polls: polls that are fun and polls that are informative.

Fun polls (“How many cats makes you a cat lady?”) don’t necessarily need to be about your business, but they won’t be of much value to you either.

They will drive up engagement, so they aren’t worthless, but they don’t give you as much information as informative polls.

Informative polls offer more useful information for your business plan for network marketing.

You can find out what your target audience is struggling with.

“What are your current health struggles?” can help you determine which supplements to promote.

    Surveys

Surveys are the longest of all interactive content, which has pros and cons.

On the one hand, you can gather comprehensive data from those who complete the survey.

On the other hand, you won’t have as much engagement in surveys as you would through a simple poll on your Instagram story.

In a survey, you can really dive into the minds of your customers.

You can gather a lot of data about what makes them tick, the struggles they face, what they like about your products, and what they dislike about them.

You can use the information from your surveys to make informed business decisions.

    Benefits of Interactive Content

Interactive content offers many benefits as you are building your network marketing business such as:

    Shareable Content

People will be more likely to share a quiz that finds out what Tupperware they are than a post about Tupperware.

Whenever someone shares your content, you are reaching new audiences.

This will help build brand awareness and drive people to your page.

    Camaraderie

Polls can create a sense of community among your followers.

    Engagement

The more that your audience engages with your content, the more the algorithms will find it to be valuable.

Social media platforms want users to stay on the app.

So, when they find something that people are interested in, that gets promoted more.

They want to reward the creators who make content that people stick around for by putting their content in front of more eyes.

And when your audience engages with content, it can sometimes feed it to their friends, too (depending on the format).

    Positive Associations

If your audience has a good or positive interaction with your content, you will leave a positive impression on them.

They will associate your brand with positive feelings.

This will keep bringing them back for more.

    Interactive Content: Yea or Nay?

If you’re still on the fence about interactive content, think back to your short-term goals.

Do you need to boost your engagement?

Any form of interactive content should do, then.

Do you need some more information on the demographics of your customers?

You might want to put out a poll or survey.

Could you benefit from some extra shares and fresh eyes on your material?

Sit down and create a fun quiz that will get people excited about sharing it.

Just like any other type of content, interactive content has its time and place.

Keep it simple, and enjoy the increase in engagement.

    1. Stop Losing Them: The Problem-Agitate-Solution Formula

Let’s kick things off with a classic: the Problem-Agitate-Solution formula.

This method is a favorite for a reason.

It’s all about identifying the common problems your audience is facing, turning up the heat by digging into those pain points, and then swooping in with your solution.

    Here’s how it works:

    Step 1: Identify the problem.

Think about a common issue your audience struggles with—something that resonates deeply with them.

    Step 2: Agitate it.

Highlight the frustrations and consequences of that problem. Why does it make their lives harder? Amplify those feelings.

    Step 3: Present the solution.

Show them how your product, service, or advice provides the answer they’ve been looking for.

Here’s a quick example to bring it all together.

Imagine you’re promoting a health supplement.

The problem? Your audience is struggling to lose those extra pounds.

The agitation? It’s incredibly frustrating to work so hard but see little to no results—they feel stuck and demotivated.

And then, here’s the solution: introduce your new supplement that’s designed to boost metabolism and make weight loss easier.

With this approach, your audience goes, “Yes! That’s me!” and they’re hooked because you’ve shown empathy for their struggle and a clear way to solve it.

This formula works wonders to attract people who want to know more about what you’re offering.

    2. Keep ‘Em Hooked: Grow, Engage, Promote

If you’ve been hanging around with us long enough, you know we love to talk about this one.

The Grow, Engage, Promote formula is a foundational approach for building a sustainable business on social media.

Each part works together to expand your reach, deepen connections, and ultimately drive sales.

    Here’s the breakdown:

    Grow

This is where you bring new eyes to your content.

Think about where you’re connecting with people.

Try live video, like Reels, or explore targeted groups on platforms like Facebook.

The goal is to keep expanding your reach so new people are discovering you and your brand.

    Engage

Engagement is all about building trust and loyalty.

People buy from brands they know, like, and trust.

o, connect with your audience authentically—share lifestyle posts, DM people to start genuine conversations, and use “edutaining” (educational + entertaining) content to keep them engaged.

Be a real human, not a spam bot!

    Promote

Yes, you still need to promote your products!

But keep a little mystery around it.

When you talk about something you love, share it with excitement but don’t spill all the details.

Instead of revealing everything upfront, invite people to reach out for more info.

This creates curiosity and opens the door to more meaningful conversations.

When you put these three steps together, you’re building an audience that’s interested, engaged, and eager to learn more about what you offer.

    3. Skyrocket Engagement: How to [Dream] Without [Pain]

Finally, we’ve got the How to [Dream] Without [Pain] formula.

This one is simple yet so effective, especially in headlines and video content.

The idea here is to present something desirable while removing a common obstacle.

This “dream-without-the-pain” approach captures attention and makes people stop scrolling.

    Here’s how to use it:

    • Step 1: Insert a dream. Think about something your audience really wants, like financial freedom or weight loss.
    • Step 2: Insert a pain point. Pair that dream with a common struggle that stands in the way.

For example, try something like, “How to Achieve Financial Freedom Without Working 80 Hours a Week” or “How to Melt the Muffin Top Without Living on Bird Food and Water.”

You can tailor this formula to practically any niche, from health and wellness to personal finance.

    The beauty of this formula?

    It’s straightforward and powerful.

By combining the dream with the solution to a major obstacle, you’re offering a clear path that feels doable—and that’s what makes people say, “Tell me more!”

    Putting It All Together

So there you have it—our three favorite formulas to supercharge your social media marketing.

    Here’s a quick recap:

    1. Problem-Agitate-Solution to show empathy and solve specific pain points.
    2. Grow, Engage, Promote to attract new followers, build relationships, and share your offers without being spammy.
    3. How to [Dream] Without [Pain] for creating attention-grabbing headlines and content that resonate.

The Art of Handling Conflict in Network Marketing: Fight for What You Love

    Table of Contents

Conflict isn’t exactly anyone’s favorite topic, but it’s an inevitable part of life—especially in network marketing.

Maybe you’ve found yourself at odds with your upline, frustrated with downline issues, or even facing a tech glitch in the middle of a big launch.

Whatever the case, handling conflict effectively can be the difference between feeling frustrated and taking a huge leap forward in your network marketing journey.

Today, let’s dive into some common challenges and helpful strategies to turn conflicts into opportunities for growth and leadership development.

Why Conflict is Natural (And Even Necessary!) in Network Marketing

If you’ve ever argued with a sibling, friend, or even your spouse, you’re not alone!

We all face conflict with the people (and things) we love.

And here’s the truth: conflict can actually bring out the best in us. It pushes us to find solutions, improve communication, and grow stronger in our roles.

    Network marketing is no exception.

From differences in strategy to supply chain frustrations, conflict comes with the territory.

But learning to handle it with grace and emotional intelligence can help you not only survive these challenges but also thrive through them.

So, instead of letting conflict overwhelm you, try viewing it as an opportunity to develop your skills and emerge as a leader who can handle anything that comes your way.

When you approach conflicts with this growth mindset, you’re positioning yourself to truly make the most of the journey.

And remember, you’re not alone—we’ve been there too, and we’re here to help you learn and grow along the way.

Common Conflict Zones: From Uplines to Tech Glitches

In network marketing, there are specific areas where conflicts tend to arise.

Knowing what these are can help you tackle them with confidence.

    Upline Disagreements

Maybe you and your upline have different ideas about strategy.

These differences can be challenging but are also an opportunity to practice diplomacy and improve communication.

    Downline Issues

Managing a team has its own set of challenges, from motivation to performance.

Sometimes, people in your downline bring others into the group, and past relationships between team members can lead to misunderstandings.

Here, a little empathy and clear communication go a long way.

Product Backorders and Supply Chain Issues

Let’s face it, backordered products are a headache.

Customers are waiting, and sometimes, there’s little you can do to speed things up.

But handling these situations with patience and empathy can help you keep customers happy.

    Technical Problems

Technical glitches can seem like they have a personal vendetta against you (we know, we’ve been there!).

Whether it’s a webinar that crashes at a critical moment or a broken link, keeping your cool can help you navigate these hiccups.

    Corporate Decisions

Maybe the company introduces new qualifications or changes the comp plan unexpectedly.

Adjusting to these changes can be tough, but adaptability is key.

    Cultural Differences in International Teams

If you’re building an international team, be prepared for different regulations and ways of doing business.

Handling these differences with respect and open communication will serve you well.

Conflict is part of the journey in network marketing.

Recognizing this can help you keep a cool head and approach each situation with a solutions-focused mindset.

Strategies for Leading Through Conflict with Grace

Let’s get into some practical strategies for handling conflict with grace and poise.

Decide if It’s Worth the Fight

Not every issue needs to be tackled head-on.

Ask yourself, “What’s the worst that could happen if I let this go?”

This simple question can save you a lot of time and stress.

    Focus on Solutions, Not Problems

Instead of dwelling on the issue, shift your focus to finding solutions.

Studies have shown that great leaders spend 80% of their time on solutions rather than on problems.

So, try to adopt a solutions-focused mindset, listen actively, and prioritize understanding before reacting.

    Listen First, Speak Second

Active listening helps you gain a better perspective of the other person’s viewpoint.

There’s a quote that goes, “If you looked at me from my point of view, I’m not the villain at all.”

By trying to see things from someone else’s perspective, you’ll often find the conflict isn’t as big as it initially seemed.

    Lead Through Influence

Real leadership is about inspiring people positively, not wielding authority.

Nobody likes a dictator, so approach conflict with the goal of finding common ground and creating peace.

    This approach naturally invites cooperation.

By applying these strategies, you’ll develop your ability to handle conflict in a way that builds up your business and your relationships.

Developing Emotional Intelligence and Building a Strong Team

True leadership in network marketing comes down to developing emotional intelligence and cultivating a strong, self-sufficient team.

Handling conflicts well helps you refine these skills and fosters a culture of mutual respect and open communication.

    Emotional Intelligence

Learning to separate emotions from facts is crucial.

If you feel hot-headed, take a step back, breathe, and revisit the issue when you’re calmer.

Saying, “I’m not in the right space to discuss this; let’s revisit it later,” can help prevent knee-jerk reactions that escalate the conflict.

    Foster a Positive Environment

Open communication is the foundation of a supportive team culture.

Let your team know they can bring issues to you, and create an atmosphere where everyone feels heard and valued.

This approach encourages constructive conflict resolution and helps maintain a positive team dynamic.

    Empower Your Team

Equip your team with the skills to handle conflicts on their own.

By training leaders who can resolve issues independently, you create a resilient team structure.

This is the beauty of network marketing—building leaders who lead their own leaders, so everyone contributes to a smoother-running business.

  • Understanding Push and Pull in Network Marketing

Understanding Push and Pull in Network Marketing

    Table of Contents

Imagine walking through a farmer’s market.

One vendor has a megaphone, announcing their products and free samples loudly to all the attendees. They shout out their specials to try to bring people over to their space.

The vendor at another stall is quiet, but a steady stream of people are drawn to its aroma of freshly baked bread and rolls and stunning display.

These are examples of the two types of marketing you can do: push marketing and pull marketing.

Let’s talk about what push and pull marketing are, then see if you can tell which vendor is which by the end.

Understanding Push and Pull in Network Marketing
    (Alena Darmel/pexels)

    What Is Push Marketing?

Push marketing is when you try to push your business out in front of your potential customers.

    It’s proactive, deliberate, and aggressive.

Push marketing is most effective in generating sales and momentum in the short term.

It can be a great strategy during some specific times:

    • When you launch your business
    • If you have a new product
    • To expand to a new niche
    • During sales
    • To generate brand recognition

Push marketing is effective, but it isn’t always sustainable.

    What Is Pull Marketing?

Instead of taking your products to your customers, pull marketing does the opposite.

In pull marketing, you are pulling your customers into you.

Pull marketing is a more subtle art than push marketing.

Another name for it is influence marketing, a tier above MLM attraction marketing.

In pull marketing, you naturally accrue an audience.

You’re playing the long game with pull marketing.

You should focus on pull marketing when you are trying to accomplish any of these:

    • Build brand loyalty
    • Establish yourself as an expert in a specific niche
    • Engage with customers before they even know they want anything from you
    • Organically grow traffic
    • Turn customers into return customers

Both forms of marketing have their place, but customers are often fans of finding brands organically instead of having them shoved in their faces.

Examples of Push and Pull Marketing

Examples of push marketing would be:

    • Paid advertising
    • Email marketing
    • Social media ads

When you are paying for your advertisement to be a banner across someone’s page, you’re pushing your business in front of the customer.

If you have a marketing campaign, you are pushing your business into the customer’s email account.

When you run social media ads, you are pushing your content to be displayed in your client demographic’s feeds.

Alternatively, examples of pull marketing would be:

    • Search engine optimization (SEO)
    • Content creation
    • Social media presence

SEO is when you build up your site to encourage search engines to rank you higher.

When was the last time you looked at Google’s page two?

    Hardly ever, right?

    Same with all your customers.

When you work on search engine optimization, you do a lot of behind-the-scenes work to tell Google that you deserve to be on its first page of results.

If you feed the algorithms what they want, you will get the results you want.

A lot of SEO is creating content to establish yourself as an authority and expert on a topic.

When search engines can tell that you have a lot of content about a certain topic, they will reward you with higher search rankings.

There are a lot of SEO strategies out there, but the best ones don’t cut corners.

Your social media presence is another key to the long-term goals you will set. When you create your account, you probably won’t go viral overnight. Instead, you want to consistently post and engage to build a foundation.

That way, when a potential customer comes along, they will have plenty of posts and content to look through.

As you pick up accounts engaging with yours, their friends will see, which is a win for you.

People trust brands their friends trust.

Pushing and Pulling in All Directions

So, at the farmer’s market, can you tell which was which?

The megaphone-wielding vendor was using push marketing.

The baker was using pull marketing.

The concepts of pushing and pulling might seem overwhelming. You might feel pushed and pulled in many directions to implement different strategies for your business.

Before you take any drastic steps, take a breath.

Think of your current long-term and short-term goals:

    • What do you want to accomplish this month?
    • Where do you want your business to go in the next five years?

The beauty of push and pull marketing is that they work together well.

Always work on your long-term goals, supplementing that consistency with work toward your short-term goals. Make a strategy that will help you reach those goals.

This is more than just attraction marketing for MLMs–this is influence marketing for when you’re ready to amplify your results. You’ll be pulling in customers before you know it.

  • Is Your MLM Recruiting Ethical?

People can get a little hesitant around multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing.

They might think it’s a pyramid scheme (spoiler alert: it’s not).

    Your MLM Recruiting Ethical
    (rawpixel.com/Freepik)

However, they might also be wary because of the unethical approaches they have seen some network marketers use in the past. It’s an example of a few bad apples ruining the whole bushel.

Those unethical moves give all of us network marketers a bad name.

And they can be costing you business.

So, which recruiting approaches do you need to be aware of so that you can steer clear?

7 Sketchy Recruitment Tactics (and What To Do Instead)

We compiled a list of recruitment tactics with questionable ethics.

Here are the seven tactics, along with what you should do for MLM recruiting instead.

    1. Medical Claims

You may have spectacular results with a company’s product, but you can’t use words like cure, heal, treat, or prevent. Claims like this are not only misleading; they’re also illegal.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) does crack down on claims that violate their compliance laws, so don’t get yourself stuck in a lawsuit.

Instead of claiming to cure or heal a particular ailment, you could say that your products can help soothe the symptoms of that problem.

You can point out actual peer-reviewed studies that have shown how a certain ingredient may help with a particular symptom.

If you share personal experiences, be very clear that they are your own experiences with the products and aren’t a guarantee from the company.

    2. Income Claims

Just like the medical claims, telling potential prospects that they are guaranteed a certain amount of money in a specified amount of time is also illegal.

You also can’t guarantee any of it.

You might have found success yourself, but that doesn’t mean that any new recruit you sign will have the same results as you.

You can say that joining this company gives someone an opportunity to build wealth, but you can’t claim that they will be rich by next Tuesday.

If you can’t back it up completely, don’t say it.

    3. Simplicity Claims

Telling your prospects that making money is easy is misleading.

You know everyone has to put in the work while building up your network marketing business.

It isn’t something that happens overnight.

You will attract the wrong type of people for your downline if you are telling them that they will just have to sit back and watch the money roll in after they join.

Be honest with your recruits and prospects about how you need to put in some effort to get the most out of this opportunity.

You want lead generation for your MLM that will produce quality, honest individuals.

If you are honest with them, they will trust you. And that trust will go a long way on your path to becoming the best leader you can be.

    4. Harassment

Many people have heard stories of MLM recruiters who have harassed prospects if they turn down the opportunity to join.

    Don’t do that.

    Be respectful of everyone’s decisions.

This goes for your downline, too.

Don’t harass them for not reaching recruitment goals or for not selling as much product as you thought they should.

Be encouraging. Be helpful. Be a leader.

The amount they bring in will become zero if you drive them away completely.

    5. Public Bashing

Public humiliation doesn’t look good on most people, least of all a leader.

No matter your personal opinions on competing companies, you should keep your thoughts on the matter private.

When you slander and invite in the negativity that comes with smack-talking, you aren’t creating an environment where your recruits will feel safe.

People around you will be walking on eggshells.

Instead of pointing out what you don’t like about other companies, highlight what you do love about your company.

Sing its praises all day long.

Your positivity will be refreshing, and the opinions on the other companies aren’t even necessary.

    6. Employment Claims

You might find some parallels between your pre-MLM situation and another person’s job-searching situation.

Regardless of how many similarities there are between the work you are putting into your business and a traditional job, you can’t claim them as the same.

Don’t tell someone that you’d like to “hire” them.

Be very clear that joining your team is an opportunity, and money is not a guarantee.

Make sure all your recruits understand they are 1099 contractors and not employees.

And don’t advertise joining your team as a “job” online.

Be transparent about what you are offering.

    7. Unprofessionalism

Don’t take the rules and regulations your company has as suggestions.

Rules are in place for a reason.

You aren’t the exception to the rules.

    Keep confidential information private.

Be respectful in all of your interactions as a representative of the company.

If you want to know how to build an MLM business, this is at the heart of it. Use integrity. Be honest, trustworthy, and supportive.

So, the next time someone is wary of your business because it is an MLM, give them time to see for themselves that there’s nothing unethical about what you’re doing.

Is Your Customer Strategy Backfiring? The Surprising Truth

Let’s dive into a topic that might be a bit controversial: how your loyal customers could unintentionally be slowing down your network marketing growth.

Sure, they love your product, they buy every month, and sometimes they even tell their friends.

But are they stepping up as productive team members who help your business scale?

Here’s the thing: many network marketers rely on a strategy to convert customers into team members.

It’s a widespread approach, but it’s not without pitfalls.

Fran shared her story of attempting this strategy, only to find that some customers had no interest in building a business.

They loved the product, but Fran shares that “it was like dragging a bunch of monkeys on my back.”

So, if you’re ready for a real talk on building a productive, powerhouse team, keep reading.

Why Happy Customers Aren’t Always Rockstar Recruits

Many of us start by building a customer base, thinking, “Once they see how great the products are, they’ll want to join the team!”

And yes, there are benefits to having lots of happy customers.

They love your product, they’re subscribed, and they even tell their friends.

But here’s the twist: just because they’re happy customers doesn’t mean they want to become network marketers.

Happy customers are awesome, but most don’t have that entrepreneurial drive.

They’re thrilled to buy, but building a business? Not so much.

Fran shared that one of her friends continued to buy products even after she’d left that company!

Her friend thought she was “working for Fran,” happy to be a customer but never meant to be a team member.

Just because you drive a car doesn’t mean you want to be a car salesperson, right?

    Same thing here.

It’s essential to avoid the trap of thinking that a happy customer equals a potential recruit.

Passive Players vs. Powerhouses: Who’s On Your Team?

When it comes to building a team, there’s a huge difference between passive players and powerhouse recruits.

Passive players might sign up for the discount or because they love the product, but they lack motivation and rarely contribute beyond the occasional call or team meeting.

Sure, they’re great product advocates, but they’re not moving the needle for your business growth.

On the other hand, powerhouses are engaged and motivated.

They actively recruit, build networks, and drive significant growth.

Brandy shared her story of catching the “network marketing bug” and how she went all-in to build her business, win the rewards, and go after every achievement available.

These are the people who don’t just sell products—they take ownership, train others, and push the entire team forward.

To succeed, you need more of these powerhouse types on your team.

Turn Customers into Leaders: The Onboarding Game Plan

If you do have customers who show a spark of interest, effective onboarding can help them transition into strong team members.

The first 90 days are critical—most people will quit if they don’t see results quickly.

That’s why, when we recruited, we encouraged new members to post their first curiosity post right away.

Getting them into action immediately helps them gain confidence, see small wins, and feel part of the team.

Providing ongoing mentorship and support systems is essential too.

Team members need training, motivation, and a supportive environment to thrive.

It’s all about meeting people where they’re at!

We can’t force someone to be a top performer if they’re not interested.

Trying to carry everyone will drain your energy faster than it will build your business.

Pairing new recruits with experienced team members and building a system where people feel they’re giving back creates a sense of accountability and growth.

Ditch the Couch Potatoes: How to Attract the Best to Your Team

Let’s be real: you don’t want couch potatoes on your team!

Attracting powerhouse recruits takes more than just asking customers if they want to join.

It’s about creating a brand and mindset that naturally draws in high-energy, committed team members who are ready to do the work.

Kat emphasizes that most network marketers don’t know how to attract these “badass leaders” we all want, and many end up stuck trying to manage people who lack drive.

At Beach Boss, we teach you how to become that leader who attracts other leaders.

Your mindset matters—if you see yourself as someone worth following, that energy will radiate and pull in the right people.

You might wonder, “How can I attract top talent if I’m just starting out?”

Well, it starts by believing in yourself and embracing that inner “badass.”

When you combine that confidence with proven recruiting strategies, you’ll start building a team that’s just as driven as you are.

By following these strategies, you’ll not only avoid some of the common pitfalls in network marketing but also build a team of leaders who are excited to grow with you.

It’s time to let go of the old ideas that happy customers automatically make great team members and start attracting true rockstars who will take your business to the next level.
